I think its been a while

Havent done much. work work work.  went to france, will go to italy. Not much else. lalallalalala.

Tuesday, May 11, 2004

Ok, so its been a couple of months, who reads this anyway? So whats new with me? lots. The one im really upset about right now is that my grades SUCK they really really do. People. I am smarter than this, I know it.  I really am. I am really not this dumb. grr. Anyway.  Beyond that, life is good. I might graduate early and I have a great summer internship looking at neutrinos at Fermilab in Chicago.  After that, Remy and I are going to go to Italy and the french rivera. Sounds like a good summer to me! but after that, I have to hit the books. Ugh. Anyway. Not much else. I have to move out of morewood by tomorrow so I guess I should finally pack my shit up. UGh I hate packing. I've been trying to do it for liek a week and i've failed. I cant do it. I dunno how to pack. Im at work right now and its not going so well. GRRR. I hate my life. Anyway. I really have nothing interesting to say.... not anything im going to put in a xanga anyway. I've got some great pics of france, but I need to scan them in. thats about it! im trying to think of something to say or something to write because i really hate short entries. I mean, you go there, cuz you wanna read something and procrastinate or whatever, and its 3 lines long! that sucks. So if anyone does read this because they really dont want to be doing whatever it is they should be doing,  I want to at least entertain them for...well more than 3 freaking lines anyway.

Well I finally finished the violin. done. finito. except for orchestra. I just dont wanna do the whole conservatory this-is-your-life-you-will-play-the-violin-and-not-think-or-do-anything-else-ever-for-the-rest-of-your-life. You know, to become one of those dorks who run around claiming to be Ysaye's legacy. The actual violin I really like. I hope I can still do a lot of chamber music and stuff like that. Thats what I really like to do. The music school is making me take ANOTHER semester of orchestra (cuz I skipped one) so I know i will be playing next year and I have to learn something for the audition over the summer.  Its been a big brewhaha because I have an overlap of 20 minutes between Physical Mechanics and Orchestra and I have to take both. So I asked my advisor and she said that I have to leave one early and show up to one late, but then Mr. Fletcher, the head of the school got involved and he said I couldnt do that. Lucklily Jasmine is a sqeaky wheel and during the big violin party she started to whine and the Violin teachers told her to tell Mr. Fletcher that jasmine can show up late . YAY! ugh. ITs gonna be a fucking busy year.  Anyway all of this is because I am graduating (hopefully) a year early. I hope I get into a good grad school. Columbia at least (I mean they are taking me in for this REU so if I do well, maybe they will let me into Columbia...which is a good school) but I really want to go to Berkley. I dont think i could get in though. Its a toughie. ugh. but the idea of california and good weather... I have to at least try.

What else? Oh yea. My parents are moving to Houston. So... yeah. Its gonna be interesting.  Im from Texas now. Howdy. At least its near New Orleans so we can do Mardi Gras sometime. That might be fun. I think next year I still want to spend my holidays in france since I wont be 21 yet,  just...19. God. I almost thought that next year im turning 20.. and then I remembered... no jasmine, youre 18. You have 3 years, not 2. GRR.   At least I can drink in France. I still make a goddamn moron of my self though. When I was last there, Remy took me to some friends party and they had all sorts of "Asian" food (ha! spicy pizza and soft drinks?!??!) and of course drinks and everyone has to write their name with a marker on their cup. So  im sitting there not talking to anyone cuz i CANT cuz i cant SPEAK french. feeling rather stupid anyway when the marker next to me falls of the table. oops. I guess I should pick that up. but im a lazy american and i dont wanna get out of my chair. Hmm. So im twisting about in my chair trying to get this pen back ont he table without actually taking the energy to get OUT of the chair  and I nearly fall on my butt. But I dont! and I pick up the pen, put it on the table and ... well I was going to go bakc to what i was doing, but  I hear a lot of laughing around me and I realize the people sitting behind me were watching me this whole time. and to make it worse some random french dude then says "Dont worry, it was a good uh.... joke".  great. So im  a ditz in france too.  You would think by changing countries you would suddenly become suave and sophisticated. Nope.

More french stories...  oh. I got picked up in Paris on the subway. Near pigalle, (Moulin Rouge) That was interesting. It was duiring the day time, and this random french guy  who had been smiling at me on the subway says "Bonjour.."... and since thats the ONLY word I know... I said "Bonjour" and started walking faster... and then he said a bunch of stuff in french and I actually have no idea what he said. It would be a funnier story if I had. but I dont. He said a lot though and I tried to say "Je ne parle pas francaise" but I think it came out as something else cuz then he started talking even MORE in french... and I just stared at him. and then I said "WHAT?!!" and he said "Oh! *something french*" and I said "Uh huh." and he smiled and walked away. ah life....

More?Hmm,, Im thinking. I saw that wierd green haired "Bertha" person (I question calling it a girl)  in a very tiny tube top and a miniskirt. Im scarred for life. I dunno if I should put this up there. It really was truely scary.

I'll update more later. Ciao.

Some old pictures...

Saturday, October 25, 2003

So Im updating again... yeah... Ok if you were gone during the fire works show for CMU and/or Upitt. You. Missed. Out. It was so awesome.  Non stop fireworks for like 20 minutes. Fireworks filled the sky like lightning from somewhere in Schenley and the Cathedral of Learning. There hasnt been anything like that for a long time in my mind. Ive been so depressed lately. I worked so hard to learn the Beethoven and the Barber for my lesson this morning. Mr. Forough was so busy chopping my barber into little itty bitty pieces and throwing shit into my face, that we didnt even get to anything else! It makes me so upset when I work on something night and day- and it gets me nowhere. Im just stuck exactly where I started. I even cried a bit. I was so pissed. After that I needed to sleep for a few (1.5 hours) In order to get my bearings. Then of course there are the REST of my friday classes (history, physics) followed by orchestra rehearsals, orchestra concert and Orchestra/Alumni After Party. All of which sucked.  And on top of everything,  EVERYTHING else.  I had to go to the Studio Party afterwards as well. Of course being ME, I had to do something extremely dumb, like lock myself out of my room. So after I called campus police, waited, got into my room. changed and left and walked back to CFA, everyone (including any rides) had left for the studio party. So I was stuck not going. So now Mr. Forough has one more reason to throw shit in my face. Great. Leilani and I were coming back from playing air hockey into the CFA to get a flyer with the address to a party we were headed to. As we walked out, we saw just the tops of some beautiful golded arms. So of course we screamed and I ran back to get Mike and Adina, and we all ran out and watched the fireworks. Adina left early, but mike, leilani and I stood in the field outside of CFA and just stared into the sky. It was very nice. and very soothing. It ALMOST made my day OK.  The party was fun too, but that really just did it for me. Oh to live for the small things...

So um, yeah. i dont really... update often. Of course, no one reads this.  So since this is CMU's GREAT  ONE DAY MID SEMESTER BREAK! (one whole day, woo hooo!!!) I think I'll make an attempt to update.

Ok. Things that happened  (since last update) in this order

1. REU at U pitt!

2. France!

3. School

4. The last few days

******1***** "physics rules"

I dont remember the day to day stuff. but it was really really cool. There were some good things, and some bad things. The best thing was SARAH and NICK. the worst was... "the rabbit hole" or AKA "Constance"  AKA "my keptomaniac roommate who stole my bracelet and wore it infront of me, threw an entire cesaer salad in the toilet and left it there for 2 days, constantly watched the disney channel, yelled at me and my sis cuz lei drank ONE bottle of her water!, locked me out of my room and wouldnt let me back in and when she finally did, she decided that 3 am was a good time to "have a talk about some of my habits." and of course pointed out MY unladylike qualities of things like *gasp* leaving my clothes on my bed!"

small tirade. still not over that.

But nick and sarah were really cool. So shoutouts to them. Nick was working on Quasars spectrum and Sarah was working on geting quantum dots. yeah, good times good times... um. dunno what to say about that. lots of movies and lulus and Pamelas.

***france*

Well, I met a very nice french boy... hehe. yeah. other than that... hey, its france. wine, sun, sand, good music... thats the life. um.  yeah. thats it. It was great. I didnt get to go to paris, but I did go to bordeaux a few times. Its a lovely city with lots of shopping and churches. and a great river in the middle. Its great. I love europe. The opera house is soooo coool! um um. yeah. I broke my (sisters) camera at the beach, so no pictures.... . ohhh wut else? Ozlem, my friend in Turkey is a great girl. I have to talk about her, cuz she was so cool. And we picked blackberries together! lol. more good times. The food at the festival was ok, but not especially good. It was a fun 2 weeks and plus, I got to miss a whole week of school! definately worth it. I guess I should have practiced more, but hey, its france! it was so hot there and GORGEOUS every day! I dont want. I NEED to live in europe. It great! and they have lizards! ewwww. actually they were really cute. I like lizards looking things. Ummmmm. I dunno if I can go back or not next year. hopefully so because ROSTIPOVICH (sp?) is supposed to be there ( for all ya cellists out there) . The euro is really... interesting, but its almost impossible to get cash exchanged now! cuz all the exchange places are gone.   I lost my glasses there, funny story. I dunno how I lost them. I think it was in a field somewhere. really. HONESTLY... loosing your glasses in a field during an outdoor concert. (and wine tasting. I didnt have THAT much wine!)  but anyway, I needed to see so a few days later, monique, the lady that ran the place we were staying at, ran me down to the optomitrist to get me some temp contacts. Apparently the french ppl dont check their eyes as well because the lady gave me a perscription for -2.75 for both eyes, but when I went to get my contacts here, the guy was like. "ummm... youre more like a -3.50) so... there ya go. I have the worst eyesight ive ever had. (not like eyesight really gets BETTER...not at my age anyway) So now I have new glasses. but not when I was in france. When I was in france, I had contacts. they worked relatively well.  I could see....and we got them for free! we invited the lady that helped us to the concert we were having later that week. I mean, isnt that nice! french people are nice. Its kinda funny though, the american influence on some things. Like the first day I was there, the cafeteria guy was singing Eminem at the top of his lungs. ALL DAY. I think someoen complained, cuz he never did that again,  it was really funny though--- french eminem. whoa. French pop music and rap in general is really interesting. as we all know grace downloads that stuff allt eht ime... but I dont., its wierd.  um um um... yeah. dunno what else to say.  a lot happened.

****school**

everything that has happened to me sofar of any significance would be:

1. I have purple hair

2. Barber, Kreisler, Beethoven....

3. Physics sucks,... but I knew that already

4.Leilani is here!

5. I need to get my stuff out of graces room.

6. Ming has boys around all the time

7. I work at U pitt (see the REU section...except none of the cool people) I have tao, but he's leaving though... then its just me and yufan, who doesnt speak english. I hate that. I  cant understand a word he says. and he keeps talkign to me in chinese. its quite annoying.

8. I am not ont he meal plan, hence the needing a job.

9. I stopped caring.

10.my room is a mess

The last one only affects me in my mood,c uz I hate spending time in my room.

****the last few days**

ok, so the last few days have been midsemester break, whichis great. one fuckign day. whichis today. Last night we got jennie sort of drunk and grace a little bit buzzed and Asaka really REALLY red and me... I didnt get anywhere. not really. maybe a little dizzy? I dont think so. I was ok. But we made really really BAD grasshoppers. with no fat milk and really bad vodka. But with all the mint and sugar I added... it was not bad! So new people I know through grace and jennie would be: Asaka, Joe Mike, and Tyler. tyler I met yesterday. he looks british. I dunno how that works, but he looks like he should have an english accent.  Joke mike and osaka make out continuously, but its cool, cuz theyre nice and very... open... about their... love... for each other.  now (you seattlites) Asaka, is from LAKESIDE. best friend of Mindy Yang. remember her? oh. and she knows edward baskerville. Wierd! she remembers that play i was in "into the woods" with lakeside like 3 years ago. I remember that ed called me durign quartet rehearsals and asked me to play the viola in 2 weeks!  ugh. wierd times. Anyway, shes cool because she is from seattle and and she says words like hella, which east and midwest people disdain in using. so thats HELLA good.   I think this is awsome! seattle people! and by coincidence we hang out with the same people... does that say somethign about seattle? hmm. So anyway, last night jennie was pretty happy. and was bouncing all over the place... that was amusing, but i left, because I got bored and I needed to do stuff today.  Stuff being rehearsing with my pianist.  We did the barber, but i forgot to tell her about the kreisler, so yea... I need to practice tonght too because I have a lesson tomorrow. I liek today though. very leisurely. lets see what eles?  My computer says I have no soundcard. oy. I need to get that fixed! I cant listen to any of my illegal music! (hehehe) yeah.... I will edit this later....

I edited Asaka's misspelt name (earlier) Thats it. I wanna sleep, but I have to work now.
